Sociologist and resident CEU expert on Roma and minority rights in Europe Julia Szalai

With a joint appointment at CEU and the Hungarian Academy of Science, Julia has focused on minority, poverty, and democracy issues in Europe with a special focus on the issues facing the Roma. She's currently leading a major multi-national European study comparing Roma and second-generation immigrants in the west and east, and she hopes the study's results will have major implications for all parts of Europe.
