CEU's Diana Ürge-Vorsatz talks climate change, sustainability, and the "lock in" effect
Home »
Diana Ürge-Vorsatz, a professor in CEU's environmental sciences and policy department, discusses sustainability and the best strategies for cutting back emissions. Defying conventional thinking, Ürge-Vorsatz says that incremental steps to increase energy efficiency in the long run make more ambitious efforts to curb emissions more costly.
Her work studying this so-called "lock in" effect has drawn international attention, both from the European Commission and the Green Building Council in the United Kingdom. She spoke to both constituencies this fall, and now tells us all about her work and what's ahead.
