This research aims to show new light on the issue of human and carnivore conflict and coexistence in the Romanian Carpathians by studying spatial and temporal patterns of conflict, by investigating attitudes of various interest groups towards carnivores and their management and by researching what role do protected areas and private lands play in carnivore conservation and in promoting the coexistence of people and carnivores. The carnivore species targeted by this research are: the brown bear (Ursus arctos), wolf (Canis lupus) and Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx).
