Citizens of visa required countries to Hungary
Students who come from countries which require visa to Hungary will receive a "Confirmation of Acceptance" letter from the CEU Admissions Office. They need to apply for a long-term visa (in Hungarian: “tartozkodasi engedely atvetelere jogosito vizum”). Please note that this type of visa is a single entry visa. This visa can be obtained from the Hungarian Consulates worldwide. In countries which do not have a Hungarian Consulate, students can use the network of the Honorary Consulates.
To apply for a long-term visa, you need to prepare the following:
| Required documents for a long-term visa: | Available at: |
| Visa application form | |
| Confirmation of Acceptance from CEU | Admissions Office |
| Confirmation of having paid the General Deposit | Bank confirmation sheet or in case of online payment, a printout of the email confirmation. |
| Passport (valid for at least 18 months from the planned time of entry into Hungary) | |
| Four passport size photos | |
| Visa fee: 60 EUR |
Once the Consulate has accepted your documents, the process may take up to six weeks.
If you have questions about your visa or if you have not received your visa after six weeks, please turn to admissions [at] ceu [dot] hu.
If you are not a recipient of the Full CEU Fellowship, the Consulate may require that you submit a bank statement to certify that you are able to cover your living expenses and/or the amount of the CEU tuition (if applicable).
Please do not travel to Hungary on a tourist visa (C-Visa), in the expectation that you can change your visa status while in Hungary. This is not possible and such students have to return to their home country to apply for a long-term visa, a process which can take up to six weeks.
Upon arrival in Hungary
