Academic/Professional experience, and Achievements: 

Péter Benczúr is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics of Central European University and Deputy Head of Research at Magyar Nemzeti Bank (the central bank of Hungary). His research interests are in international macroeconomics and empirical public finance. His current research focuses on the determinants of sovereign risk, financial frictions, international business cycles, and empirical analysis of the behavioral response of individuals to tax reforms.

Péter received his Ph.D. from the Massachussetts Institute of Technology in 2001. He also holds an M.A. in Mathematics from Eötvös Loránd University Budapest (1995).
