Academic/Professional experience, and Achievements: 

Michael Hamilton holds an LL.B. from the University of Kent at Canterbury, an MA in Irish Studies from Queen's University in Belfast, and a PhD from the School of Law at the University of Ulster. His primary research interest is in freedom of assembly and expression during periods of transition. Between 2004 and 2009, he held a position as lecturer at the Transitional Justice Institute (TJI) of the University of Ulster, and was co-director of the TJI in 2008-09. He is currently a member of the OSCE/ODIHR Panel of Experts on Freedom of Assembly. In 2007, he was appointed Human Rights Advisor to the Strategic Review of Parading in Northern Ireland. Michael has been associate professor at the Legal Studies Department of Central European University since August 2009.
