Open Century Project

The Open Century Project aims to influence political debate through its fellowship program and to lead - together with Remarque Institute at New York University and the Center for Contemporary Studies at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore - a research initiative to critically re-think the conceptual framework in which society and its elected politicians think about the world today. The basic premise of this initiative is that old theories, all rooted in the legacy of the Enlightenment, are no longer an adequate framework within which to cope with the complexities of today’s world. The ambition of the Open Society Fellowship program is to influence political debate by addressing both the academic community and the broader public. The program is organized around individuals with ideas who are able to provoke intellectual excitement and challenge negotiated universals.
