CEU Pilot Website Update 4 (Dec 2008)
This CEU Pilot Website Update summarizes the developments in the second half of December. Note that the previous update (no 3) was prepared on December 16 but sent only on December 29th (this is a bug in the system that we need to fix), so don't be surprised if this Newsletter also arrives late. I will also be sending it over regular email, just in case.
Improving development and user support environment
- The Contributor Area has been reorganized to provide better access to the Website overview, statistics, and the most frequently used development and administrative news. Read more here.
- The issue register has been enabled to record and systematically deal with bug reports, support requests and tasks. Read more here.
- The Four Website Forums have been organized to discuss support and other issues online. Read more here;
- The Website Handbook (formerly the Webguide) has been significantly updated and better organized.
- Rules for naming and managing menus have been proposed.
New features
- Image Galleries to post pictures in collection of galleries have been enabled. Read more here
- Attaching thumbnail images to profiles is now possible. Read more here.
- The Web File Manager system to deal with files (documents, images, publications), etc. online has been set up. Read more here.
- Recording Projects (e.g. research projects) and linking them to Profiles and Minisites (so that you can see who is involved in what projects) is now possible. A detailed description of the feature is coming. Meanwhile, recording a project use Creat Content - Project menu links. Ask Aleh for detail.
Content and layout
- All minisites can now get their own Themes. Ask Brandon to create (clone) a theme for your minisite if you don't yet have one. Have a look at the DISC minisite to see what's possible.
- The Center for Network Science minisite is now making great progress and promising to be very rich in content.
