Teaching Grant for CEU PhD students
CEU and American University of Central Asia (AUCA), Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan have launched a new grant program to offer interested PhD students of CEU the possibility to teach at AUCA a whole semester (15 weeks).
Objectives:
CEU and the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) recently agreed to strengthen their institutional links and cooperation, given their similar missions and the shared commitment to promoting a higher education model that supports the development of open societies and democracy in and beyond their respective regions.
AUCA is an international, multi-disciplinary learning community in the American liberal arts tradition that develops enlightened and impassioned leaders for the democratic transformation of Central Asia.
As part of a package of initiatives that are being implemented in this context, CEU and AUCA would like to offer interested PhD students from CEU the possibility to teach at AUCA.
Conditions:
Successful applicants will be given financial support to cover the trip to and from Bishkek and a monthly stipend of 1,000 USD for the duration of the stay to allow covering all related expenses, including insurance, accommodation, and visa. AUCA will provide logistical support with finding accommodation in Bishkek. Grantees can not receive other CEU grants (such as a write-up grant) during this period.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be at least in their 3rd but not more than in their 6th year of doctoral program at CEU with study fields relevant to the following list of preferred courses to be taught:
Busieness Administration - Business Communication, Human Resources Management, Financial Accounting for Economists
General Education - Introduction to Philosophy, History and Philosophy of Science
It is also possible for CEU PhD students to propose other courses that fit the profile and academic needs of AUCA (please check AUCA website for more details http://www.auca.kg/).
As a rule, AUCA courses run for one semester (15 weeks) and earn 3 credits for successful applicants.

Interested PhD students should submit an application to the CEU Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office (ACRO) by email to Noemi Kovacs at kovacsn@ceu.hu
The application package should include:
- Application form (attached)
- Curriculum Vitae of the applicant
- Short outline of the proposed course
- letter of support from the supervisor (sent separately by referee to the same e-mail address)

A jury consisting of academic members of CEU will evaluate the applications and select the finalists. Applicants will be informed about the decision by the end of June 2011.
The jury is not required to publicly justify its decisions.
