Call for proposals- Gerda Henkel Foundation
The Gerda Henkel Foundation is offering research grants and grants for conferences in the following three categories:
I. Grants for research projects and conferences in the fields of History, Prehistory and Early History, Archeology, Art History, Historic Islamic Studies and Legal History. Grants for research projects cover personnel costs as well as travel and material expenses.

II. Special Programme “Islam, the modern nation state and transnational movements”. The Foundation supports research projects under the following five headings:
(1) Historical and present day Islamic systems of society and state
(2) The concept of nation, national movements and nationalism in Islamic civilisation
(3) Islamic fundamentalism or Islamic emancipation?
(4) Civil society movements in the Islamic world
(5) Islamic states in the international world system

III. Special Programme Central Asia, offering grants to support outstanding scholars whose research is focused on Central Asia. The Foundation also supports projects that are based on cooperation between scholars from the above-mentioned countries and European experts specialised in Central Asia.
