2011 PhD Graduate Receives Appointment from President of Malawi

The president of Malawi recently appointed Jolly Wasambo, a 2011 PhD graduate from the Department of Environmental Studies and Policy, to the position of environmental and soil health expert within the newly established Green Belt Initiative. Wasambo's thesis titled “Water Governance and Sustainable Rural Livelihoods: The Case of Irrigation Reform At Wovwe, Malawi” examines the influence of irrigation reform on water governance and livelihoods of rural communities within a distance of approximately 20 kilometers along the entire Wovwe River course.
