Berkeley Economist Measures Trust in Social Networks

CEU Alumni Adam Szeidl, assistant professor of economics at University of California, Berkeley, visited the university last week to present his new field research on how social networks determine lending practices among Peru’s poor population.

Szeidl (MA Economics 2000) is among a group of economics scholars from Yale, Harvard, and Iowa State University who have launched micro-finance field experiment projects in two Lima shantytowns in order to measure the importance of social networks and trust when borrowing money.

Deadline for submitting documentation justifying tax reduction

March 20, 2010 was the original deadline for employees for whom CEU HRO is completing tax returns to submit additional documentation justifying their entitlement to any reductions.

You may enforce the reductions only if your yearly income in 2009 did not exceed 3.9 mil HUF (appr. 14,400 EUR).

The tax reductions fall within the following categories:

Natalie Zemon Davis Receives Holberg International Memorial Prize 2010

Former CEU Board of Trustees member Natalie Zemon Davis has been awarded the Norwegian Holberg Prize 2010 for her outstanding scholarly work in the field of History.
