Muslims in Europe: To Belong or not to Belong?

As part of the CEU International Relations and European Studies Department and Religious Studies Program’s workshop, Multiple Modernities and Tradition – (De)constructing Religious Worlds, the At Home in Europe Program of the Open Society Foundations, presents the panel discussion: Muslims in Europe: To Belong or not to Belong?

 

Panelists:

Ms Naima Bouteldja, French Journalist and researcher, Europe

Ms Nina Mühe, Anthropolgist, Europe University Viadrina, Frankfurt/Oder, Germany

Mr Kerem Oktem, Academic, St Antony’s College, Oxford University, UK

Mr Dilwar Hussain, Director, Policy Research Centre, Leicester and President of the Islamic Society of Britain

 

Discussion will focus on the political and cultural environment in the panelists’ respective countries and offer their insights in regards to policies and rhetoric on integration of Muslims, including the challenges and reality of diversity in Europe today.

 

The moderated discussion will be followed by Q and A.
