History Department Publications

The faculty and doctoral students of the History Department publish their work regularly, in their native tongues as well as the main European languages, in peer-reviewed journals and with leading academic publishers. In addition, over its more than fifteen years of existence, the History Department has published several Yearbooks (1993, 1995, 1997, 2001) and a working paper series (3 volumes between 1993 and 1996), which provide an insight into faculty and student research at the department.

History Department Yearbooks

During part of its history, before the book series with CEU Press, the CEU History Department edited a number of Yearbooks, dedicated to the work of faculty, advanced graduate students, and visitors which resulted in a number of still valuable article collections, as you will see from the contents.

Selected Faculty Books in English

Our faculty publishes and is translated in a wide variety of languages, as is shown on the individual faculty pages.  Below appears a list of faculty books published in English since 2000.

1. INTRODUCTION

History Department Research

Taking advantage of its location in Budapest, the Department of History is an active initiator of ambitious research projects on the history of Central, Southeastern and Eastern Europe, as well as bringing together research on larger geographical entities covering all of Europe and its near abroad. In recent years the largest network of scholars has grown out of the CEU-HESP Comparative History Project.
