Developing Internal Representations in the Mind to Understand the Visual World

On March 8, the CEU Cognitive Development Center (CEU Department of Philosophy) hosted Jozsef Fiser, Assistant Professor, The Volen National Center for Complex Systems, Department of Psychology, Brandeis University, US, for a colloquium entitled: Developing internal representations in the mind to understand the visual world.

György Gergely has done his graduate studies in psychology at University College London and Columbia University where he received his PhD in experimental psycholinguistics. He has also earned a second PhD in Clinical Child Psychology from the HIETE University, Budapest. His main research interests are: Social and cognitive development and cultural learning in infancy and early childhood, action understanding, theory of mind, and developmental psychopathology. He has published books and papers in three broad areas of research and theory: a) cognitive science, b) cognitive and socio-emotional development, and c) clinical and psychoanalytic developmental theory, and developmental psychopathology.

Top EU Research Grant for the CEU Cognitive Development Center

Gergely Csibra, Professor of Psychology, Cognitive Development Center (CDC), CEU, has been awarded a 1.5 million Euro Investigator Research Grant by the European Research Council (ERC) in the “Social Sciences and Humanities” category for his research proposal entitled “Human Infants' Contribution to Learning from Others by Ostensive-Referential Communication”, the Brussels-based organization announced at the end of last week.
