Wallenberg’s Legacy Could Guide Europe’s Future

Sixty-seven years ago today, Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg, who personally saved tens of thousands of Hungarian Jews during the terror of 1944 and 1945, fell victim to another terror regime, disappearing into the Soviet prison system. His bravery and personal achievements serve as an important example for today’s Europe, according to Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, speaking January 17 at CEU.

 

The Center for Media and Communication Studies Releases the Study: “Hungary’s Media Laws and Consistency with European Free-Press Norms”

A new CMCS study by researcher Amy Brouillette analyses the consistency of the Hungarian media regulations with European practices and norms, addressing a key policy debate in Europe regarding the conformity of Hungary’s media laws to European and EU media-regulation standards.

  • CEU Participates in Hungarian Science Festival Program

    Since 2007, Central European University (CEU) has participated in the Hungarian Science Festival, organized by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). The aim of this festival is to draw attention to sciences and education. During the nationwide event each November, hundreds of educational and cultural institutions across the country open their doors and welcome the public to lectures and exhibitions. CEU nominated outstanding public lectures scheduled in November for this project.

    CEU’s Political Behavior Research Group (PolBeRG) brought researchers from across Europe together at a three-day event entitled  “Political Psychology Networking Conference for the Post-Communist Region.” Held at CEU in November and co-sponsored by CEU and the International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP), the conference drew more than 80 participants, and encouraged political scientists and social psychologists to cooperate towards the field of political psychology.
