Praesidium Libertatis Scholarship at Leiden University

The scholarships are offered for Academic Year 2011/2012 for the following graduate degree programs:

Master of Art Programs

  • European Union Studies (duration: 10 months)
  • International Relations and Diplomatic Studies (duration: 2 years)
  • Political Sciences (duration: 1 year)
  • Research Master Political Science Institutional Analysis (duration: 2 years)

Master of Science Programs

  • Public Administration (duration: 12 months)
  • Public Administration Research: Institutional Change and Reform (duration: 2 years)

LL.M. Programs

  • European Law (duration: 12 months)
  • European Business Law (duration 12 months)
  • Public International Law (duration 12 months)
  • Public International Law and International Criminal Specialization (duration 12 months)
  • International Tax Law (duration 12 months)

The scholarship includes:

  • waiver of the application fee
  • full waiver of the tuition fee
  • a monthly stipend of € 970
  • health insurance, should be effected through the internet, prior to departure (approximately 500 EUR per year)
  • reimbursement of the cost of a resident permit (approximately 438 EUR)
  • arranging accommodation, orientation program, student ID card
  • e-mail account, internet access, research facilities

Other services: if needed, assistance with visa application and opening of a local bank account.

Insurance

Students are required by law to have adequate health insurance, which is also necessary to obtain a residence permit. It is advised to have liability insurance as well. There are several providers which offer policies for staff and students. Several options can be compared here.

Application

Interested students have to apply on-line through Leiden University's on-line application form.

On the scholarship page, tick the box for the Praesidium Libertatis Scholarship program. The page has a box in which you have to explain why you opt for this scholarship (page can be downloaded). Note that only complete application forms with all enclosures will be processed.

Once your on-line application to Leiden University is complete, you have to submit a set of the following documents in four copies to the CEU Financial Aid Office (located within Student Services) by no later than February 21, Monday.

  1. A motivation letter
  2. Your printed completed Leiden University on-line application form
  3. Your CEU transcript. Note: an unofficial transcript is acceptable. For this document please contact the Student Records Office at registry@ceu.hu indicating that you need the transcript for the Praesidium Libertatis Scholarship application.
  4. A confidential reference letter from your supervisor.
