Track your status

In order to learn the decision about your application to CEU, please login to your online application, and click "Track your status". The decision values you may see displayed in your application are explained below.
Please note that in case you have applied to multiple programs, you will have a separate decision displayed in each application you have submitted.

Admission Decision:

1. Pre-selection decision (after February 3, 2012):

Passed Step 1 means you have passed the first step of the selection process (also known as pre-selection.) Please check the departmental decisions regarding English and program-specific testing (the latter may or may not be applicable depending on the program you have applied for.)

Denied After First Review means you have been denied admission for that particular program by the departmental selection committee. Please note this decision only applies to the specific application in which it is posted; if you have submitted applications for multiple programs, you will need to check each of them for the relevant decision. Note also that this decision is final and not subject to revision or appeal. CEU, like other graduate schools, does not make known the reasons why an application is rejected.

2. Final decision (after March 20, 2012):

Accepted means you have been accepted for that particular program in which you see it posted.
You will receive a formal offer of admission with full details of the financial aid award, if any, displayed underneath the admission decision.

Denied means you have been denied admission for that particular program by the departmental selection committee.

Waitlisted means that your admission is subject to the withdrawal of one or (typically) more students with a higher merit ranking. Waitlisted candidates may receive an offer of admission between late April and June 30th (if they need a visa to Hungary) or the beginning of the academic year (if they do not need a visa). Please note that for a variety of reasons, we cannot provide information about your chances of acceptance.

Decision Pending means the academic department you have applied to has yet to make a final decision about your application.

Financial Aid (after March 20, 2012)You will see here any financial aid you have applied for and been awarded. The Financial Aid decision may be updated if you have applied and been waitlisted for a higher package (e.g. a Partial CEU Fellowship) than the one you have been granted (e.g. a Full Tuition Waiver). Any potential upgrades will take place until the beginning of the academic year.

Acceptance by Order of Student Choice

Candidates may apply to two separate CEU departments, and must indicate their first and second preferred choice of department. If the applicant is rejected by the first choice, but accepted by the second choice the student will be offered admission to the second choice. If the applicant is accepted by both, an admission offer will be made by the first choice department, not both. In exceptional cases, and upon written justification, applicants may be permitted to change the order of their preference – notifying the CEU Admissions Office by February 15, 2012.
