ACRO, Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office

The Academic Cooperation and Research Support Office (ACRO) is a unit responsible for co-ordinating CEU efforts in international academic co-operation and providing administrative support to CEU research activities and projects.  ACRO assists CEU faculty, staff and students to seek and secure partnerships and support for their academic mobility, cooperation and research. It proposes and implements policies ensuring that externally funded research and CEU academic partnerships are of the highest quality and in line with CEU mission and values.

CMCS announces joint project on European Privacy and Human Rights (EPHR)

Privacy International, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) and the Center for Media and Communications Studies (CMCS) are pleased to announce a new project on European Privacy and Human Rights (EPHR). The European Commissions Special Programme "Fundamental Rights and Citizenship" is funding this project, which will start February 1, 2010.

The EPHR project comprises three action areas:

1. Map European privacy laws and recent developments as well as summarise the trends in the light of the right to privacy;

CMCS contributes to EU-study on indicators for the independence and efficiency of regulatory bodies

The Center for Media and Communications Studies (CMCS) at the Central European University is taking part in a consortium that was selected by the European Commission to carry out a study on Indicators for independence and efficient functioning of audiovisual media services regulatory bodies for the purpose of enforcing the rules in the AVMS Directive (SMART 2009/0001). The consortium includes the Hans Bredow Institute (lead contractor), the K.U. Leuven (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Cullen International, as well as Perspective Associates as a subcontractor.

European Integration Studies -- Jean Monnet Call / Life-long Learning Program

Jean Monnet Programme of the Life-long Learning Programme supports activities aiming at stimulating excellence in teaching, research, reflection and debate in European integration studies in higher education institutions within and outside the Community.

2009 Global Essay Contest

Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility Grants

The LIFELONG  LEARNING PROGRAMME/Erasmus mobility activities scheme is a Higher Education Program of the European Commission. This program facilitates a period of study abroad for students as well as teaching exchange possibilities  in another European country.

Exchange possibilities include teaching periods abroad from a minimum of 5 working hours (a week) to 6 weeks at any university which holds an European University Charter.
