Central European University is the exclusive beneficiary of a permanent endowment fund. The CEU Endowment, one of the largest academic endowments in Europe, was established to ensure the long-term financial viability of CEU. It provides annual funding for core operating expenses of the Budapest-based university.

The CEU Endowment is wholly separate from, and unaffected by, the existence, funding or operations of the various national foundations that comprise the Soros Foundations Network.
